The purpose of the capstone for the masters in Information Technology is to allow students to demonstrate professional capabilities in one or more of the concentration areas studied. The MS project involves research and some type of hardware or software development, which could be using a traditional programming language or application package. The MS thesis involves more in depth research of a topic, analysis of results and, typically, some development. An optional two-credit capstone preparation course is available to help students write their capstone proposals. See the MS-IT Capstone Guide document for more information.
