The casual game industry is a rapidly growing field that produces interactive experiences for a widespread audience. The term “casual” refers to the user, who can pick up and start to enjoy a game right away. Serious games utilize gaming types of experiences for purposes that go beyond entertainment. Both casual and serious games have a relatively short development cycle and can developed by a small team or even an individual. The skills to develop these types of games include media design, experience design, programming, and web development.
