No Lecture (Do Readings & Exercise)

There's no lecture today, but you still need to do the readings and exercise.

Readings from The Design of Everyday Things

Read chapters 3 and 4 of the Norman book. ("Knowledge in the Head and in the World" and "Knowing What to Do")

Exercise on Constraints

This is an ungraded "in class exercise" to be done in lieu of attending class.

Find an everyday thing that provides a good example of constraints. Take a picture of it (or do a drawing of it), and explain what the constraints are and why you think they're effective. Submit the picture and the explanation (which together should fit on one page) to the dropbox I've set up in myCourses.

(You can double-dip, and use this example in your sketchbook as well.)
