Web Design and Technologies (4004-737)

Information Architecture I (posted 5 January 2004)

The best web sites start with careful planning, and avoid the “Winchester Mystery House” style of on-the-fly architecture.

As we’ve discussed, the difference between 741 and 737 is that in the former we talk about how to build pages while in the latter we talk about how to build sites. That’s the focus of this week’s lecture…how to effectively organize and present large amounts of information in a way that’s useful to the intended audience.

Professor Lawley,

I used my blog for taking notes during class and I just went back to try to find something. I didn't find what I was looking for immediately because it was recorded on Tuesday and I clicked the date on the calendar for Monday. This isn't a big deal now but when I want to go back to my notes after this course is over it makes sense to look for the notes on the day of class.

Is there a way I can accurately set the day and time or is that something that was done on the server or on the machine I used Monday evening? Any ideas about how to prevent this in the future?

You can edit the date and time of any entry, down at the bottom of the entry edit screen.

Or youc an use categories, or a search function, to find specific content.
